He pastored churches in Southern California and Sacramento, as well as teaching as a professor at Pasadena College and Nazarene Theological Seminary. W. T. Purkiser was a prolific writer of history and theology and served as Editor-in-Chief of Herald of Holiness, now Holiness Today, for 15 years.
